Primitive Gatherings

I've been working on the Primitive Gatherings sew along. The wool applique center is the first part and the pieced border is the second part. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for this project.
Found this little antique quilt at the local Vintage Market. It's worn and tattered and has vintage buttons and lace sewn on by the person I bought it from. I love the pink fabric in this quilt.

You can find me on Instagram to see more pictures.

Great News

The local quilt shop where I work has a new name "Stitch and Bobbin" and a new owner "Stephanie". I'm beyond excited and I get to keep my job! This is so exciting, I'm looking forward to what changes are yet to come.
I finished this little quilt from the book Simply Fat Quarters. The blocks are very easy and the fabrics make a nice statement in the kitchen.
I've also been busy doing a bit of painting, I wish I took a before picture. The paint is called Cottage Paint and doesn't need sanding or any kind of prep before painting. This piece still needs a light coat of wax.

Quilt Finished

It seems blogging has been sporadic for me. I've been using Instagram much more lately, simply because it's EASY. There is also a button on my sidebar, so I'll see you here and over there!

The quilt I've been working on is from one of Kim Diehl's books (I love all her books), off hand I'm not sure which one this pattern is from. I love how Kim combines her fabric choices, hopefully I've accomplished something similar in this quilt.  Cats and quilts just seem to go together, Boo is showing his approval.
I was undecided about the orange border but I think it's growing on me now. Just need to figure out how to quilt this one.

Stitching

Not much to share this week. I finished this blue bird stitchery potholder. I wanted it to look almost vintage and I think it does kinda look from the 50's. I made it like a oven mitt where your hand can go inside.  Probably won't use it right away, just use it for decoration for a little while. The embroidery was a free pattern I found on Pinterest and I made up the ovenmitt pattern.
Pulled these out and working on what I should do with them. I little quilt most likely. They are all trimmed and ready to go.

Sew Along's

I've quilted the Pam Buda sew along quilt from last fall. Just working on the binding. These blocks are all HST's. So easy and fun.
I can't believe I got these blocks finished. I'm going to add a border to have it big enough for my queen bed. After all that work, I'm putting this on my bed. This was in the Feb 2014 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.

Le Jardin

It's been a long time working on these blocks. I loved every minute, almost sad I won't be working on the bunnies, baskets, flowers and pretty things. It's the French General fabrics that really make this quilt. The borders still need to go on and then how to quilt this one. I've never hand quilted but looking at this quilt gives me the urge to start. Haven't made up my mind.

Happy Quilting.

BOM

I'm making progress on the newest (to me) Bunnyhill BOM called Woodland Christmas. I've really been enjoying these blocks and doing the back basting method of applique. This is a BOM at the quilt shop where I work but not for long. The shop is going to close by the end of June. I'm so sad to loose such a wonderful local shop, we don't have many left in our area anymore. Visit this post to get a glimpse of Creative Edge in North Vancouver.
This block is missing a few details, raccoon needs his eyes, the tree farm sign stitched and the bears tail.
The little hedge hogs were a bit fiddly and so many windows to stitch. The doors are missing the knobs.

I'm so thrilled the group that has been working on this BOM with me still wants to meet after the shop closes. We'll have to switch between houses to make this happen. I really want to keep this group together, we've had so much fun together.

Take care and support your local quilt shop.
